Late Baleswar Prasad Gupta was a prominent Congress Leader of Tinsukia and was the Director of Tinsukia electricity supply Company Ltd. Tinsukia. He was appointed as Chairperson of adhoc committee to give a concrete shape to the idea to Start “Tinsukia College” the 1st college for Tinsukia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
HISTORY OF TINSUKIA COLLEGE:
\nThe inception of Tinsukia College in the Year 1956 was the result of strenuous efforts of Late B. K. Saraswatji. An adhoc committee was formed under the Chairpersonship of Late Baleshwar Prasad Gupta who was authorized to give a concrete shape to the idea. The maiden meeting of the adhoc-committee was held on 9th May, 1956 under the Chairmanship of Late Baleshwar Prasad Gupta and it was resolved to convene a public meeting on 20th May, 1956 in the Hindi English High School premises. Accordingly a public meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Md. M. Sultan, the erst-while Deputy Commissioner of the Lakhimpur District. The public meeting resolved to open an intermediate Arts College from the Academic session 1956. An organizing Committee was formed under the Chairmanship of Late Jadu Nath Bhuyan to execute the decisions of the aforesaid meeting.
